Our Denton crew has been keeping garage doors running right for more than four decades. We’re the same faces you’ll see at the grocery store on Teasley Lane, at the Denton Community Market on Saturday mornings, or coaching Little League out at Denia Park. What ties us together isn’t complicated. We show up when we say, we quote the price before we touch a wrench, and we stand behind the work. Carl Dutton started this shop in 1984, and he’s still the one who answers the phone at odd hours. The rest of us learned the trade from journeymen who learned it from journeymen. No shortcuts, no surprises on the bill.

Carl Dutton, Owner & Lead Technician
Carl opened Mainspring Garage Door Co. in Denton back in 1984, back when the square downtown still had dirt parking lots and Fry Street was mostly wood-frame houses. He named the company for the mainspring, the coil that carries every pound of a door’s weight. That’s how he thinks about the business. The spring fails, everything else fails. He’s personally handled more than 12,000 service calls in Denton County, and he still climbs a ladder when a door’s fighting back. Certified by the International Door Association since 1992. You’ll know him by the coffee-stained notebook in his shirt pocket, where he sketches spring configurations while he’s on hold with suppliers. He still answers the 24/7 line himself some nights, especially when the weather turns.
Marcus T., Senior Installer
Marcus joined us in 2009 after eight years running his own small handyman operation in Sanger. He specializes in full door replacements and new construction installs, the kind of work where measurements matter to the sixteenth of an inch. He’s factory-trained on Clopay, Amarr, and Wayne Dalton systems, and he’s the one we send when a homeowner in Southridge or a builder in Rayzor Ranch wants a custom carriage-house door hung plumb and level. Marcus keeps a level in his back pocket that’s older than some of our apprentices. His detail: he hums old Motown hits when he’s wrestling a 16-foot steel door into its track, and he’s never once dropped one.
Doris K., Service Coordinator
Doris runs our dispatch and scheduling from the office on Dallas Drive, and she’s the live voice answering when you call (817) 623-1087 at 10 p.m. on a Sunday. She started with us in 2017 after fifteen years managing logistics for a HVAC contractor in Corinth, so she knows how to route three technicians across Denton, Little Elm, and Argyle without leaving anyone hanging. She’s the one who checks that every truck left with the right springs, the right opener model, the right cable drums. Doris has a map of Denton County taped above her monitor with every neighborhood marked by how tight the turns are and which streets flood in a hard rain. Her detail: she bakes banana bread for the crew when we’re slammed with spring-break calls, and she remembers most customers by voice.
Elijah R., Apprentice Technician
Elijah came on in 2022 through a workforce program at North Central Texas College. He’s twenty-four, grew up in a house off Bonnie Brae with a garage door that squealed like a stuck pig every morning, which is apparently what got him interested. He’s completing his journeyman hours under Marcus and Carl, working through the K.E.Y.S. training code: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. Elijah’s already certified in opener programming and safety sensor alignment, and he’s the one we send when a LiftMaster or Chamberlain system needs a firmware update or a Wi-Fi bridge configured. His detail: he carries a worn copy of the installation manual for every brand we service, tabbed and highlighted, and he’s been known to call a manufacturer tech line at 6 a.m. to settle a bet with Marcus.
One Standard, Every Job
We’re not a franchise. We’re not a call center routing you to whoever’s available in Dallas. When you book with Mainspring in Denton, you’re getting one of these four people, or one of the two other technicians they trained personally. Every one of us works under the same 90-Day Done Right Promise that Carl wrote out by hand in 1984 and still prints on every invoice. The price is flat and stated before we start. The trucks carry the parts. The background checks and uniforms aren’t optional.
